Bethany Place is dedicated to serving our neighbors in eleven counties of the Metro-East who are affected by HIV disease. With an emphasis on wellness, our staff continually strives to provide all clients with the support they need to maintain the highest possible quality of life.

Our staff has created a caring, non-judgmental climate at Bethany Place that is sensitive to each person's individual needs and beliefs and where all are respected. The circle of our ministry includes collaboration with individuals, community, religious, civic, and health-related organizations.

Our History

Founded in 1988 by Sisters Mary Rombach and Carol Baltosiewich of the Franciscan Third Order of Hospital Sisters, Bethany Place was originally designed as an outpatient hospice service and healing ministry of Belleville's St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Bethany Place was incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization 501(c)(3) in 1992.

Since its inception, Bethany Place has grown to serve hundreds of clients, their families and caregivers with the spirit of compassion and justice. Services are available to all persons living with HIV/AIDS regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, race or religion. With a focus on wellness, Bethany Place provides all clients with the support they need to maintain the highest possible quality of life. Bethany Place also remains steadfast in sending a strong message of prevention to the community through its education and outreach programs.

As a member of the St. Clair/Madison County HIV Care Consortium, Bethany Place receives funding from Ryan White Titles I and II and serves a twelve county region that includes: Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Fayette, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Marion, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington counties.
